I would like to send my best wishes to all of you for the Festive Season.
A great deal of thanks goes to those of you that contribute transcriptions, articles, photographs, and various other items to GENEALOGY WORLD each year. Without all of you there would be no website. Thank you for your enthusiasm and support.
As we approach the holiday season, and many of you may travel to see family now living overseas, it is best to be aware of the following details:

ANNE's TRANSCRIPTIONS:
The following item has been transcribed by Anne Clarkson:
Anglican baptisms at Keiskama Hoek, 1882 - 1899
Cory Library, Grahamstown, MS 19 154
OF MARITIME INTEREST:
Rosemary Dixon-Smith writes an interesting article entitled Sidney Turner.
I particularly like the below statement!
"Being entirely dependent on ourselves for doctoring, I often wish I had a good family medical work, also one with simple operations that could be managed by anyone who knows nothing of surgery ...".
Do-It-Yourself Surgery does not sound like something to be relished!
NATAL NUGGETS:
Thirty Postcards of early Natal (scanned for Pat Frykberg) are supplied by Lynn MacLeod. Take the time to look at the charming early scenes.

This URL has some very interesting early (and later) postcards of Durban.
BRICK WALL and MISSING PERSONS:
A reminder to check these pages from time to time in case you are able to help other researchers.

DURBAN FAMILY HISTORY CENTRE:
Retirement
As most of you will know, after 9 years of service Jenny Harries, who has been the Director of the Durban Family History Centre, has decided to retire. She is known to many of you personally when you visited the FHC or attended the Family History Fairs she organised.
Jenny will be sorely missed as she has worked tirelessly over the years to nurture the pursuit of family history research. We all have a lot to thank her for - therefore I sent her the following message:
"A BIG thank you for all you did over the years at the FHC - it was a huge task and not many would want to take it on. It was wonderful to be part of a happy team - each managing to contribute his or her research experience to the whole in a pleasant and harmonious atmosphere - and apart from some of the wonderful research discoveries we all made, this enabling good rich and rewarding friendships to emerge from the mutual contact."
We would like to wish Jenny and Graham happiness in their new home and many enjoyable retirement years ahead.
Although all GENEALOGY WORLD information is easily accessible from the MAIN MENU - from time to time - we notice researchers being unaware of information we have available. Therefore please study the MAIN MENU carefully.
Kind regards,
Delyse Brown
