Hello !*FIRST_NAME*!,

Happy New Year! Unbelieveable that we are 5 years into the new Millenium. Time moves so rapidly these days.

As you know, one cannot start family research too soon in one's life-time. We all regret that we did not ask our parents and grandparents more about our family history when we still had the opportunity.

Someone chuckled when I made the following statement recently:

"I am trying to complete NOW whatever I want to have complete by the end of my lifetime".

Although this remark caused some amusement in the lady I was speaking to, (she no doubt thinking that I had years ahead of me), I was aware that with the rapid movement of time it is possible (even for a researcher) to leave their family papers incomplete and in some disarray. Which can result in the documents (horror of horrors) later being thrown out without examination, or leaving behind a terrible task for another family member to put into some proper order.

So if I have a New Year's Resolution - this is it! To bring to completion every branch of my family tree. And to record it properly!

Talking of endings, makes me think of beginnings ... are you interested in viewing the arrival in Natal of the SHUTTLEWORTH family? The 'Emily' Passenger List with photograph of the appropriate newspaper cutting is now available. Over the Festive Season, other Byrne Settler Passenger Lists have also been added, including the Passenger Lists of other Vessels.
Click here to view the Lists.

The above 'Maritime Page' also has items combining family history with human interest:
  1849 'Douglas' ...... Ireland family
1856 'Lotus' ...... Donaldson family

Are you looking for a Will you have, as yet, been unable to find ....
NATAL NUGGETS has a new item you might want to read.

The list of 1820 Settlers from MD Nash's SETTLER HANDBOOK - including ILLUSTRATIONS, MAP, and new distinctive LOGO - is now available. Even if you already own this book, Mrs Nash has added 'Additions and Corrections' which you might like to read. .... Click here to view this web page ....

In the SETTLER HANDBOOK MD Nash mentioned that the Miles-Dicks-Ralph families were related. I noticed that other members of the FORD, HYMAN and JAMES Parties, who were allocated land alongside each other, and remained together longer than other Settler parties, were also related. (See above mentioned Map.)

Because of the above, I therefore obtained the DEATH NOTICES of the following 1820 Settlers: Philip Pinnock, Richard Crouch and his son Richard, Joseph Ralph, Richard Ralph, Robert Miles, James Dicks, James Dicks. Anyone requiring information regarding these particular Death Notices, please send me an e-mail.

Should you wish to add information to that already known regarding 1820 Settlers (as some of you have already done) I am going to be adding a section for this additional information shortly.

As all of the Genealogy World projects are labour-intensive please note that on my Home Page I now request that you inform me if there are typing (or other) errors, your tolerance and assistance in this respect would be most appreciated.

That's all for now, see you all next month...

Kind regards,

Delyse Brown

Something lighthearted...

A blonde woman goes into a department store and tells the salesman she wants a pair of pink curtains. He assures her they have a good selection of pink curtains. He shows her many kinds and different fabrics. She finally picks out a pink floral pattern.

The salesman asks, "What length do you need"? She says, "15 inches". He exclaims, "15 INCHES!... What room are they for"?

She says, "Not for a room, it's for my computer monitor". The surprised salesman exclaims, "Miss, computers do not need curtains". The blonde says, "Helloooo.... I've got Windows"!!
