Hello !*FIRST_NAME*!,
We all know what happens to... 'the best laid plans'.... !!
I had plans to add information acquired from those of you who wrote to me regarding the 1820 Settler 'additions and corrections' as a result of MD Nash's THE SETTLER HANDBOOK appearing on Genealogy World. [Thanks to Ron (our Web Master) the Index now loads quickly.]
I also had plans to add to the FAMILY CHRONICLES section!
After two weeks without a computer, I will now be adding the various items in the next few weeks weeks, so, please be patient.
However, in spite of the computer problems, there are additional 1854 Passenger Lists on the 'Maritime Page' for you to view (including a departure for Australia); human interest stories are interwoven with arrivals and departures of shipping. The Loss of the vessel "American" is of particular interest in this regard. There are new items in 'Natal Nuggets' giving us a view into the 1850's. A range of subjects are mentioned in Rosemary's 'Diary of a Natal Mole' (January edition). Click here to read them.
I recently asked Sapper (Graham Mason) the Archivist of the 1879 Group whether any of the British Soldiers who fought in the Anglo-Zulu War had returned to live in South Africa after the war, which they did. Click here to read 'We Came Back'.
Nigel McFerran has submitted his latest Durban and Coastal Branch GSSA Newsletter, if you are not in receipt of this, and would like to read it - Click here to download it.
If many of you have wondered why the following banners: THE SCIENCE OF GETTING RICH and HOW TO GET 1 MILLION VISITORS TO YOUR WEB SITE, are on Genealogy World Home Page - there is a very good reason!
At the LDS I spend hours each week in the company of fellow researchers assisting them to find their ancestors. The one thing that is obvious in speaking to so many people is that they are hampered in their research, not only by elusive information, but by the cost of constant ongoing research (especially when BMD Certificates, Internet access etc. etc. all has to be paid for). Hence my making available Rebecca Fine's free copy of 'The Science of Getting Rich' in case this is of any help to anyone. [This book makes suggestons for the enrichment in all areas of life, not just in a monetary sense.]
The other bugbear where research is concerned, of course, is lack of information. I liked Stephan Ducharme's idea of people with Web Sites getting together to share information, instead of each having to spend ridiculous sums on advertising etc. Hopefully in this way, we can all assist each other in the finding of information that continues to otherwise elude us.
On the subject of money and information - to read about "Gimme the Family Tree" click here!!
Kind regards,
Delyse Brown

Did you know... Trying to dress an active little one is like trying to thread a sewing machine needle while it's running. An alarm clock is a device for waking people up who don't have small kids. Kids really brighten a household; they never turn off any lights.
