TRANSCRIPTIONS AND GENERAL SHIPPING LISTS:
The Domestic Announcements transcribed by Ellen Stanton from South Africa Magazine 1891-1920 continues. Ellen states that there will be 126 lists when complete. A valuable addition to Genealogy World.

NATAL PASSENGER LISTS:
Rosemary now has three new passenger lists appearing in this section:
Arrival of William Ackers 7 September 1861
Arrival of Catharine 8 March 1862
Arrival of Monsoon - 20 September 1863

NATAL NUGGETS:
Two interesting lists have been added to Natal Nuggets:
Durban - List of Mayors 1854-1918
Pietermaritzburg - List of Mayors 1854-1935

ROBIN'S LISTS:
Griqualand is a list of people mentioned in "The Griquas of Griqualand" by Samuel James Halford. East Griqualand was centred on present day Kokstad and West Griqualand on present day Kimberley.

Robin also includes a Roll of Honour of South African Railways Staff who were killed in action or died while on active service during World War II. Robin will do look-ups, if requested by email, and can provide details of Decorations (if any), Civil Grade (in the Railways), Military Unit, Rank, Cause of Death and Date of Death.

Consolidated Roll of Honour - is a list of Consolidated Rolls of Honour incorporating the South African Railways, Old Mutual, Maritzburg College, Durban High School, Hilton College, University of Natal, 24 Squadron South African Air Force, Natal Mounted Rifles, Durban Light Infantry, First City Regiment (Grahamstown) and a few other Military personnel (Signallers and Engineers) who were attached to these Regiments.

Robin states: "In some cases I only have the names, but in others I can provide, on request by email, ranks and dates, places and causes of death.

Sometimes names appear several times and I have left them as is. An individual may have been at one school, moved to another, gone to University and then joined a Regiment and been Killed in Action and will therefore be registered in the Roll of Honour of each institution. Sometimes there are slight variations in the names due to errors by the original compilers but usually it is easy to figure it out."

WELL-KNOWN NATAL SCHOOLS
MARITZBURG COLLEGE:

The names and details of outstanding Cricketers that were Maritzburg College scholars have been sent to us by their Archivist, Matthew Marwick.

SOUTH AFRICAN INTEREST:
Natal Marriages - Adrian Rowe, in collaboration with Ellen Stanton, is continuing to transcribe these Marriages. Adrian has sent Genealogy World a Summary of Transcriptions to keep us informed of the progress that is being made with this massive project. Helping Adrian with transcriptions are Lyn Paul and Maureen Kruger. Adrian informs me that he would like the help of additional transcribers if anyone has the time to spare!

PROPOSED FAMILY HISTORY FAIR:

Pietermaritzburg Venue

The Pietermaritzburg Archives, Genealogical Society in PMB, and the Voortrekker Museum are proposing to hold a Family History Fair around Heritage Day in September. The exact date has not yet been decided. The Fair will possibly be held at the Voortrekker Museum.

Anyone who may want to be an exhibitor or speaker should contact:
Pieter Nel: pmbarchives@kznedu.kzntl.gov.za or tel 0333 424712.

The LDS Family History Centre in Durban, after hosting a successful Family History Fair on Heritage Day last year, intends to hold an Open Day for family historians later this year.
