MILITARY MATTERS:
Rosemary Dixon-Smith states that in this new item - The Natal Militia - the names read like a roll of Natal's colonial families. Look closely - perhaps YOUR ancestor is among them.
Many of the people shown would have served in the Natal Rebellion of 1906 (Bhambatha Rebellion) and some also during the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902.

BRICK WALL and MISSING PERSONS:
A reminder to check these pages from time to time in case you are able to help other researchers.

Did You Know
... that Suffrage supporters boycotted the 1911 census, risking prosecution and a hefty £5 fine in peaceful protest? Charlotte Despard announced the plan, saying 'I am not going to tell whether I am a wife or a widow ... until I am a citizen'. As a result, many Suffragettes and their male supporters avoided the enumerators by holding open air meetings in large towns and some even went ice-skating! Others left blank or defaced their schedules with posters and slogans, or gave Suffragist as an occupation: 'Votes for Women', 'No Votes for Women - No Census', 'If I am intelligent enough to fill in this paper, I am intelligent enough to put a cross on a voting paper' and 'No persons here, only women' were included. Although reported in the Times the next morning, the true extent of the action was not known, and the numbers of those who abstained completely can never be discovered, although several thousand are estimated.

Although all GENEALOGY WORLD information is easily accessible from the MAIN MENU - from time to time - we notice researchers being unaware of information we have available. Therefore please study the MAIN MENU carefully.

SPOTLIGHT:

YOU Magazine:

Genealogy World receives many enquiries. In response to some of our suggestions a recent enquirer writes:

"I have also tried the You magazine and am at present waiting for another insert to appear. I must say I had enormous success with the first You insert as 3 of my cousins contacted me and I discovered a cousin I did not know that I had and through her have found out a real lot about my grandmother but still nothing on my grandfather."

Perhaps if you are struggling to make certain links you should give the above suggestion some thought.
