Hello !*FIRST_NAME*!,
With the festive season upon us this is a bumper year end issue, I'm sure you will soon have your mind occupied with family and friends and their comings and goings over the December period.
I'm sure at one time or another you have encountered what Jung called 'synchronicity' - when you become conscious of a particular subject and then further consciousness of the same subject re-occurs rapidly thereafter. This week I had two such experiences.
I had been in pursuit of the wife of James Weeks - one of my 1820 Settlers - Maria Ann SHEPPERSON. She first married Porteus Smith and then James Weeks. I had come to the conclusion that the Smith children mentioned in THE SETTLER HANDBOOK by MD Nash did not belong to Maria. She was too young in 1820 to have been their mother. This led me to think that Porteus had been married prior to his marriage to Maria.
Thanks to the above mentioned synchronicity, I received a letter from Mrs Nash suggesting that I include (on www.genealogyworld.net) a list of 'Corrections and Additions' to THE SETTLER HANDBOOK that had come to light after the publication of her book. Sure enough, on the list was the information that in 1820 Porteus Smith and wife Maria had no children! You might like to see any changes that affect your families.
I am very pleased to tell you that Mrs Nash has suggested that in addition to her INDEX OF SETTLER NAMES, we also include her background history regarding the 1820 Settlement Scheme; details of the Settler Ships; and information regarding each Settler Party. This is an invaluable aid to researchers. MD Nash has shown unbelievable generosity in consenting to allow me to publish her material. She deserves a big thank you !

As there are 16 parishes bordering on Oxford Street in London, finding the correct parish to search is a daunting and sometimes impossible task! While searching for Maria Shepperson's baptism and marriage, I have inadvertently acquired information regarding Porteus SMITH. If you are interested in obtaining the details regarding the baptism and first marriage of Porteus Smith, please contact me and I will e-mail you the information.
If you are interested in knowing the whereabouts of Richard CROUCH (1820 Settler - Ford Party) prior to his departure from England, you can e-mail me. I have information you might like to have.
Don't forget to keep checking the progress on the Shipping Lists for the BYRNE SETTLERS. If you have not done so lately, click here.
My second experience of synchronicity this week happened when I had been thinking of obtaining a 15 Generation Pedigree Chart (from The Family History Store) and someone I was helping with her research at the LDS Family History Centre pulled out a 15 Generation Pedigree Chart to show me! Coincidence? What do you think?
