Hello !*FIRST_NAME*!,

'GENEALOGY WORLD' - NEW ITEMS :
See Listing on right hand side of page----------------------------------->

THE WILGEFONTEIN SETTLERS:
We have a new section in the Main Menu. Susan Roberts has researched the Willowfountain Settlers. She has kindly given permission for her article and Timeline to be made available for you to read.

ANGLO-BOER WAR:
For anyone interested in the Anglo-Boer War a new item is now available: "Troop Movements 1902".

OF SA MARITIME INTEREST:
Please note that as some of the incidents included in this section did not take place in Natal, the title has now been changed to include South Africa as a WHOLE.

Although the articles themselves make very interesting reading, do not forget to check this section periodically for names you are researching as some of the reports include lists.

NEW this month Rosemary Dixon-Smith has included the following:
Wreck of the Jane Davies 1872.

NATAL NUGGETS:
'List of Missing Relatives in Natal Witness - 6 May 1907'
has just been added. One cannot help wondering what the outcome of these 1907 searches were?!

EAST GRIQUALAND:
You will recall my recent mention of the e-book available on this website:
'The Days that Count' written by Henry Dorning.

In the 2 November 1896 issue of the South Africa Magazine the death of the father of Henry, J. Dorning, is reported.

If you scroll to the bottom right-hand corner of GENEALOGY WORLD's Home Page, you will see the photograph of Elizabeth Brown entitled :: The Browns ::. Elizabeth was the wife of Henry, and daughter-in-law of Jonathan Dorning whose death is reported.

UK and OTHER URL ADDRESSES:
Several of you have sent in newly discovered URLs. As this list of useful addresses now includes more than just the UK, the title will reflect this. Described as 'UK Addresses' before, you will now find the URLs under the INTERNATIONAL heading on the Home Page of 'GENEALOGY WORLD' entitled 'UK and OTHER URL ADDRESSES'.

If you would like to add your favourite URLs to this growing list, please write to: editor@genealogyworld.net

LDS:
LDS Family History Library has announced that it has begun the process of digitizing and making available on the Internet all of the Family History books in their collection. About 5000 books have been digitized and are available, and they have announced that they are adding about 100 titles a week to the on-line collection.
Go to the web site of the Harold B. Lee Library at BYU,
http://www.lib.byu.edu/
From the list of collections that are displayed, choose:
"Find Other Materials"
"Electronic"
"On Line Collections at BYU"
Choose the TAB "Text Collections"
And, finally, "Family History Archive"

NELSON'S PURSE: by Martyn Downer
This fascinating book is now available at Adam's Bookstore at Musgrave Centre, Durban. It is described as follows:

"For nearly two centuries, a red morocco dispatch box lay forgotten in a castle attic. When Martyn Downer opened the box and broke its spell, he uncovered a cache of fascinating and intimate letters relating to the life of Britain's greatest naval hero, Horatio Nelson. As Downer explored the castle, he went on to find a treasure trove of never-before-seen objects, including Nelson's swords, medals, porcelain, guns and even the purse he was carrying on the day he was shot at Tralfalgar in 1805, still containing its gold coins."

FAMILY TREE MAGAZINE

United Kingdom Publication

Recently I reported that a 2 Part immigration article by Rosemary ('Sailing to South Africa') will be appearing in this UK magazine. Helen Tovey of Family Tree Magazine informs me that recent information added to Genealogy World will be included in the UPDATE section of the February issue of their magazine.

That's all for now,

Kind regards,

Delyse Brown
