Hello !*FIRST_NAME*!,
We are often totally unaware of the searches of others, I would like to invite you to add some of your researches to FAMILY CHRONICLES (Main Menu) in case there are those whose searches overlap with yours and vice versa.
Recently I was able to supply a regular LDS researcher with the FRYER family tree and some of the trees of the various families that had married into this family.
When people were not part of a Settler scheme their arrival in South Africa can be difficult to locate in the Passenger Lists.
The FRYERS probably arrived in 1887 and proceeded to Mount Frere.
I have never managed to find the 2 appropriate Passenger Lists for:
(a) Thomas Tattersall Fryer
(b) Charlotte Rodway,
Ann, Francis, Mary (Polly), and David Fryer.
If you have been looking for Settlers and not easily found them among the 1820 Settlers, you might like to look at the new list Robin Griffiths has compiled:
1820 'DUKE of MARLBOROUGH' PASSENGER LIST
This was a private migration and not part of the government assisted 1820 Settler group.
This month my computer and that of Rosemary's - were attacked by Gremlins. Thankfully we are back on track and ready to add many more Passenger Lists and other items.
Don't forget to read Rosemary Dixon-Smith's Diary of a Natal Mole for October. The closing paragraph I found somewhat amusing, I am sure you will too! :-D
We are all aware of the lack of interest shown in families when keeping a record of their own family history. So, I was amused and amazed to receive a request from my nephew for "The Family Tree" now that he has decided to get married.
One always wonders what to give as a wedding present. I shall be resorting to THE FAMILY HISTORY STORE to find an interesting and unusual wedding gift!
See you all next month...
Kind regards,
Delyse Brown
