Hello !*FIRST_NAME*!

THE SETTLER HANDBOOK by MD NASH
I am thrilled to announce that MD Nash, the author of the above 1820 Settler book has very generously given us permission to reproduce her list of 1820 Settlers on www.genealogyworld.net

Robin Griffiths has compiled the list from her Handbook, and it is now available on "Robin's Lists". This page is large (639 Kb) so please be patient while it loads, it also has a Search Script.

Many of the descendants of the 1820 Settlers are scattered throughout Southern Africa and the world. As this book is now out of print, I am very aware of just what a valuable aid it will be to have this information on the Internet.

Thanks to MD Nash for sharing the information and Robin Griffiths for compiling the list. All will now be able to refer to it easily.

Every week at the LDS Genealogical Library, I recommend researchers use THE SETTLER HANDBOOK - so I know what an invaluable asset it is to those in search of information.

I have used this book repeatedly myself. In fact, recently I was able to trace the origins of my ancestor - Samuel Taylor James (who arrived at the Cape in 1820) back into the late 1500's - as a result of using the information given by MD Nash in her excellent book. In view of this, I recently donated a copy of THE SETTLER HANDBOOK to the Wiltshire Local Studies Library, UK, who were very pleased to receive it.

BEGINNER'S GUIDE
Click on the left Main Menu (Beginner's Guide) if you would like to read Rosemary Dixon-Smith's guide. This is an excellent e-book for Beginners - "Tracing SA Ancestors". If you would like to do so you can print it after download, pages are formatted for A4 paper. Rosemary requests that I inform you who're impatient with Internet downloads (aren't we all?) that the download time is relatively short!

ANGLO-ZULU WAR
Graham Mason, Archivist of the 1879 Group, has written a new article entitled: "The 58th at Ulundi". To read this, Click on the Regimental Badge icon on the Home Page. Sapper always has something interesting to tell web site visitors!

DIARY OF A NATAL MOLE
Every month you will have something new to read. Rosemary Dixon- Smith will be writing a Genealogical Researcher's Diary entitled "Diary of a Natal Mole". To read this, Click on Rosemary's Lighthouse icon on the Home Page, which will take you to the link for her Diary.

NATAL PASSENGER LISTS
Thanks to our Webmaster, Ron, you will now easily be able to find a name in the Passenger Lists. He has introduced a Search Facility at the top of each Passenger List. (In fact, he intends introducing this Search Facility into everything that has a list.)

Thanks to our Natal Mole I had much childish pleasure submitting "Gifford" into the 1851 JOHN LINE Passenger List and finding my ancester: Alexander Gifford and his family! Maybe you would like to find one of your ancestors in this way. I intend to add Natal Passenger Lists as fast as Rosemary can supply them. [We just need a few 'Doppelgangers' to help with the workload!]

QUIZ
I intend announcing the winner of the Anglo-Zulu War Quiz after the 30 September. Late submitters, Click on the icon for the Quiz on my Home Page, please.

Kind Regards,

Delyse Brown.
