E GRACE
Proceeds of Court of Enquiry at no. 1 General Hospital Wynberg on 24 Jun 1901 considering circumstances under which No. 32648 Pte E Grace became injured.
Pte E Grace states that on Sunday afternoon about 3 pm he was bicycling in the Main Barracks, Cape Town and collided with another cyclist. He fell breaking his left collar bone. That he reported to his Commanding officer on the same day who sent him to the Contact Camp Greenpoint where his shoulder was attended to. That he remained in the Contact Camp 12 days when he was transferred to No. 1 General Hospital Wynberg being admitted on the 18th inst. The injury is serious and will in my opinion affect his future efficiency as a soldier. Commandant stated that he was of opinion that he was not on duty at the time and that it was not through his own fault.
