“THE FAIR LAND OF NATAL”

The intermediate steamer German will next week take out 35 Government emigrants to “the fair land of Natal.”

A DISASTER

Telegraphing from East London on Thursday, Lloyd’s agent states that the Norwegian barque Louise, from Port Elizabeth for East London with salt, struck on the bar at the latter place. She leaked considerably alongside wharf, and cargo discharged was slightly damaged.

PASSENGERS BY CAPE STEAMERS

Mr. Richard Sennett, late consulting engineer to the Admiralty, is going on a trip to the Cape in the intermediate steamer German, leaving Southampton on the 5th prox. Next week’s mail steamer will con vey Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford Brydone and child to Cape Town. Dr. Egan, of King William’s Town, who was to have gone to East London in the Mexican, having had an attack of influenza, will not leave England until the departure of the Spartan on the 12th prox.

Ellen Stanton
