Miscellaneous article on same page:

Dr. MAGIN

This gentleman, whose portrait we publish herewith, is a well-known personality on the Rand. He was absent from the district during the latter months of last year, and was, therefore, in no way associated with the political agitation. He represents a large amount of Continental capital, and is one of the leading spirits of such large and prosperous concerns as the New African Company, Van Ryn, &c., &c. He is as popular socially as he is in business, and that is saying a great deal. Unfortunately for himself he is still a bachelor. He has the making of an excellent family man.

Ellen Stanton
