CIRCUIT COURT (continued from last week) John Slack, a private in the 45th Regiment was this morning placed at the bar, charged with stealing on the 3rd February last, at Cowie's Flat near Pine Town, a pair of trowsers the property of Francis Price. The Acting Crown Proscecutor prosecuted, and Mr Advocate JB Roberts defended the prisoner. The jury almost immediately returned a verdict of guilty, and the learned Recorder sentenced the prisoner to be imprisoned in the Gaol of Durban, or such other place as the Lieut. Governor may appoint, for three months with hard labour, and to receive a private whipping of 25 lashes".
The Civil business at this Circuit did not present anything of public interest.
