GENEALOGYWORLD PRIVACY POLICY
I take the issue of privacy very seriously. Genealogy World is dedicated to protecting the privacy of subscribers by taking all possible measures to protect their personally identifiable information. This privacy statement was developed to outline these measures and disclose the privacy practices of Genealogy World.
Security
This website takes every precaution to protect users' information. When users submit sensitive information via my website, your information is protected both online and off-line. When my subscribe form asks users to enter sensitive information (name and e-mail address), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry. While I protect sensitive information online, I also do everything in my power to protect user information off-line. All of my subscribers information is restricted to my office. Only the Webmaster who needs the information to perform a specific job (list maintenance etc.) is granted access to personally identifiable information.
Information Collection and Use
Genaology World is the sole owner of the information collected on its site. Genealogy World will not release any personably identifying information unless you specifically authorize me to do so or unless required by the appropriate law enforcement officials.
Subscribing
In order to receive my news letter, a user must first complete my sign-up form. During registration a user is required to give their contact information (name and e-mail address). This information is used only to mail my monthly news letter, namely, the service on my web site for which you have expressed an interest in. I use Bravenet mailing services for my news letter. Bravenet does not retain, share, store or use your personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
Site and Service Updates
I also send subscribers mid-month site change notices, service announcement and updates. Subscribers are also able to un-subscribe directly from announcement news letters as well as the regular monthly news letter.
Choice/Opt-out/Correction/Updating Personal Information
If a subscribers personally identifiable information changes (e-mail address), or if a subscriber no longer desires my news letter, I provide more than one way to remove that subscribers personal data provided to me. This can be done from the 'Subscribe' button on my main page, or they may opt-out by sending an e-mail to editor@genealogyworld.net with un-subscribe in the subject line and their e-mail address in the message body.
Double Opt-in
Users of my web site are always notified by e-mail when their information is being collected by an outside party, namely Bravenet. I do this so my subscribers can make an informed choice as to whether they should proceed with a subscription request that requires verification, or not.
Notification of Changes
If I decide to change my privacy policy, I will post those changes on my Home page so my subscribers are always aware of it, and under what circumstances, if any. If at any point I decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, I will notify subscribers by way of an e-mail. Subscribers will have a choice as to whether or not I use their information in this different manner. I will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
